Although Birch essential oil is non-toxic in standard aromatherapeutic doses (very diluted), it is an extremely powerful essential oil that must ALWAYS be diluted. Due to its high content of methyl salicylate (the active ingredient in aspirin) it should be avoided by those taking multiple medications or anticoagulant drugs. Do not take Birch essential oil internally. Dilute for topical use.
